Apparatus Studio is a lighting design studio based in New York. They may interesting and sculptural light fixtures that suit many types of interiors , particularly industrial/warehouse, eclectic and luxury due to their use of interesting form, luxe materials and sculptural qualities.
Wendy Goodman, the editor of the design section of New York magazine, was quoted as saying :
“I remember going to their showroom for the first time and thinking, ‘Oh my god, they get a kind of luxury and spareness no one else does,” says Wendy Goodman, New York magazine’s design editor. “You wanted to live in their world: pared down and sexy and elegant. There was nothing mingy or minimalist about their aesthetic. It was luxurious without being effusive.”
They have their standard designs which you can see in a number of interiors when you peruse Architectural Digest but you can also get extreme interpretations of lighting - brass, horsehair and enamel- melded together to create something that delicately throws light onto a wall, creating a subtle interplay of bright and shadow.
The lights are going to set you back upwards of 10K. There are a few models on the 3d warehouse that you can use in your designs.
I quite like the Triad - great over a rectangular dining table.
I’ve saved Apparatus Studio lighting into my lighting collection. Just search Joanne Pereira at StudioLuxicon and look for lighting. Or you can follow the link here to another collection. There are also some great ones at TurboSquid. These include 3Ds max models but there is also a smaller selection of Sketchup models that could be great. Design Connected has models here which are for sketchup. Most models cost around 10 euros.
